Question from a reader: Allah sent abandon us?

Assalam u alaikum,

I have read things on your website for about a year and it has helped me tremendously in a very dark period in my life.

Recently, after having made mistakes again and again, I have a question: do you think that Allah will never ahead of us?

I know the answer is 'No, it does not', but what happens when we made a mistake and repented, but then did it yet again, repented and returned, but then stopped and asked for forgiveness?  Think of you at this stage he gave to us and punishes for the rest of our lives?

I know that we must learn the lesson, and I know my sadness now is to affirm my faith and learn my lesson and hopefully temporary. I don't want to give up on me. Do you think its possible that he will be pleased with me if I continue to pray and make my faith stronger and stronger? I know that you have another site for people to ask questions, but for some reason any that I feel more at ease to ask here.

-Sister F.

Dear sister f., wa Alaykum as-salamu wa rahmatullah,

I am glad to hear that my articles have helped you, Alhamdulillah. My first response to your question whether Allah gives ahead of us: "I hope of course not."

Seriously, however, the real answer is that Allah does not give us, nor does it get tired to forgive us as long as we continue Meanwhile sincerely. Do not despair of the forgiveness of Allah. Allah says in the Qur'an,

'O those of my servants who have transgressed against your own selves, despair not of the mercy of Allah. "Allah forgives all sins, because it is surely the most tolerant, most merciful One." (Koran 39:53)

The key is sincerity. Allah says:

«O ye who believe!» Turn to Allah with sincere repentance!" (Koran, al-Adel 66:8)

Allah - Glorifed and exalted - loves to forgive our sins. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

"If you have not committed sins, Allah would discard you and replace you with people who commit sins and then ask forgiveness so he forgives them." [Muslim]

This is a shocking statement at first glance. However, it is not that Allah loves for us to commit sins; on the contrary, he knows that a tendency to commit sins is part of our human nature. What Allah loves so, this is when realize us our mistakes and come back to him in repentance.

Also on this theme, the Messenger of Allah (sws) said: ' Allaah rejoices over the repentance of his servant that each of you who finds his camel after having lost to an uninhabited land. " (Agreed upon). It's quite touching if you think about it. Imagine that a man makes a journey through the desert on his camel. All her food and water are packed in bags worn by camel. It sleeps one night and wakes up to find the camel went. It is hundreds of miles from the nearest oasis in a desert without railway. He knows that without transport supplies and the camel, he wears, he will die in this arid land. It is overwritten. It will be never his wife even once, never kiss her child, never even food taste once again. Everything he worked for has ended and he will die of thirst in the scorching heat - a terrible to die way.

Suddenly the camel comes trotting back above the horizon and returns to him! Man live! Imagine the joy he feels.

Our return to the joy of Allah is greater than that. Glory be to him.

We humans hold grudges. If a friend or a spouse betrays we might be able to forgive her once or even two, but if this happens repeatedly, that we will eventually stop trusting him and refuses to forgive him again. I've certainly struggled with this. There are people from my past that I have not spoken in years. Even if I have forgiven them with my tongue, it is such a struggle to clean my heart of any resentment.

But SubhanAllah, Allah is not like that. It is Al-Aleksandra (the Forgiver of sins), Al-Afuw (the Forgiver) and Al-Ghafoor
(The Forgiver).

His forgiveness and mercy are further beyond our stars are beyond the Earth. Abu Bakr (ra) Messenger heard Allah (sws): "no man will commit a sin, stand purify himself, then pray and ask forgiveness of Allah, though Allah forgive him."

There's a very good article on the regulations of repentance in Islam on one of my other sites, IslamicAnswers.com. Here is the link:

It is no longer up to that blast of the trumpet; Regulations of repentance and repentance inn Islam

Dear sister, continue to pray and work on your faith, you said. This is the only way. We are not angels. We are human beings who make mistakes and stumble. As long as we continue to rise and turn to Allah, we are on the right track, Insha'Allah.
