Sultana's dream was published in the Magazine The Indian Ladies'. Fortunately, the text of the story has survived. It reads like a feminist future vision. But this is not only a feminist vision, but also a wonderfully written science fiction story. It is a vision where women rule the country and men are holed up in "zanana" which is now called «mardana.» Given that women are placed there is peace everywhere and all the work through the use of science is done effectively and intelligently.
Some excerpts from the story:
Why men should be locked:
And you do not think it is wise to keep the sane people inside the asylum and let loose the fool? »
'Of course not!' said I laughed slightly.
"In fact, in your country, this thing is done! Men, or at least capable of doing endless of malice, are loose and innocent, who had held women in the zenana! How can trust you these men untrained outdoors? »
"Because"Mardana"system was created, no there was no crime or Sin; Therefore, we do not ask a policeman discover a culprit, or we do not want a judge to decide a criminal case. »
Harnessing solar energy:
The kitchen was located in a beautiful garden. Each vine, each tomato plant itself was an ornament. I found no smoke nor any fireplace or in the kitchen, it was clean and bright; the windows were decorated with flower gardens. It there was no sign of fire or coal.
"How do you cook? '' I asked.
"With solar heat," she said, at the same time showing me the pipe, through which past concentrated the Sun's light and heat. And she cooked something there and to show me the process.
Vehicle of the future:
She screwed then some seats on a square piece of Board. This Board it has attached two balls smooth and well polished. When I asked what the balls were for, she says, they were balls of hydrogen and they have been used to overcome the force of gravity. The balls have different abilities to use according to the different weight desired to overcome. It is then fastened to the car air wing form two blades, which, said, have been shaped by electricity. After that we were comfortably seated she touched a button and the blades began to turn, moving faster and faster each time. As a first step, we have grown at about six or seven feet and then offshore, we flew. And before I could realize that we started to move, we reached the garden of the Queen.
My friend has lowered the car air - reversing the action of the machine and when the car hit the soil the machine is stopped, and we went out.
Read the history of the history here. I thank Nasiruddin Haider Khan for me about Begum Roqiya.
