Let's say you ask Allah (God) to purify your soul and guide you on the true path and forgive your mistakes. And then you find yourself faced with obstacles in life. You are wrong and I wondered why.
Has it occurred to you that Allah is actually answer your prayers? Only he knows exactly what needs to happen in your life so that you can find the path and be purified?
The good news is that guidance and forgiveness are worth it. They are precious and win some fights we must experience along the way. After all, guidance and forgiveness are components of happiness and tranquillity of the heart, and that is what everyone looks for in this life, that they know it or not.
Be patient with what Allah gives you. He knows what it's doing. Continue to pray and continue on the trail.
