In praise of paan

Paan is almost as old as the India itself. Ameer Khusro in his book "ijaaz-e-khusravi" gives a few qualities of paan.

1. The Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) advised of his performance.
2. One gets the fortified tooth root and this thing is known by experience that the teeth of the inhabitants of other lands fall due to eating of the fruit while the Indians who use it too do not fall.
3. It removes the pus in the teeth, which is a source of horror, and it lightens the teeth.
4 Removes the foul smell from the mouth.
5. When it is chewed, it produces good smell, which gets the spirit of those who are present fragrant.
6. It removes phlegm.
7 Makes the heart Merry.
8. All fats are source of redness, and this sheet removes redness.
9. For the arrow or sword wound healing, it is linked to the wound.
10. It prevents vomiting and exalts the burning heart.
11. For the sated, it increases appetite.
12. It is a source of satiety to hunger.
13. He brings a little intoxication (euphoria).
14. Of the nine tastes, it has three perfect those - bitter, salty & sweet and without pungent flavor.
15. Six fruits have six different tastes while this sheet has a taste as if it was all six fruit.
16. Of the seven colors, it has five perfect those - red, green, white, blackish as aloe wood and yellow.
17 Not without companions - areca nut, lime green and color.

18. In the world the fruits are eaten and non-sheet, but here the sheet is regarded as a fruit.
19. The monarchs never keep any food in the dress except this and that also with great honor.

21. It is used on the occasion of entertainment, it is always kept far from mourning and grief.
22. It is suitable for the home.
23. All sheets of the branch do not survive beyond one day, while this sheet is soft even after six months.
24. it is fresh with water and is also cool without water.
25. Taking betel increases the beauty of the beautiful person.
26. It transforms the Pearl as of teeth in the gem of Indian (women) facing the Sun.
27. He decorated the meeting of the companions.
28. The gifts that are exchanged between the lover and the loved, none is better than this.
29. His taste is ecstatical and not sensual.
30. Its external form is admirable.
